Introduction

Soft and green mobility poses a constant risk regarding the vulnerability of users. The quietness of bikes, scooters, or other soft mobility devices can lead to accidents. The "Speed and Sound" app aims to enhance the sound visibility of these users and, thus, improve their safety. It is important to warn pedestrians (even more vulnerable users) and other road users of the presence of vehicles on their path. The safety of vulnerable users is the priority of "Speed and Sound", raising awareness of each individual's vulnerability. Nonetheless, "Speed and Sound" enhances the app's use with added information and fun options. For the young and the old, Speed and Sound offers a wide range of sound signatures, speedometers, and original horns. Move while maximizing your safety with "Speed and Sound". Measure your speed and alert your environment of your presence. Warning: using Speed and Sound does not replace the use of adequate protections in case of a fall or accident.

Safety Rules

• Stay focused on the road, do not get distracted by using the app.
• We remind you that it is prohibited to handle your phone while driving your vehicle, please use a fixed mount.
• Make sure to securely fix your phone on the designated mount or any other safe place.
• Please use appropriate equipment for your phone mounts and portable speakers.
• Respect the traffic laws in your country.
• Be courteous to other road users.
• Speed and Sound disclaims all liability in case of lack of foresight.
• The displayed values and information are indicative and have a margin of error.
• The sound signature emitted by the app does not guarantee that other users are alerted to your presence.
• We strongly recommend wearing a helmet and other protective gear.
• Adjust your screen brightness to avoid being dazzled in the dark.
• We recommend using headlights and lights in low light conditions.
• Be aware of phone or portable speaker theft.
• Adjust the app's sound volume in areas where silence is advised.
• "Speed and Sound" cannot guarantee the highest image and sound quality depending on the type of phone or speaker you use.
• Speed and Sound disclaims all liability for damage to your vehicle, phone, or any other object used simultaneously with the app.
• Speed and Sound disclaims all liability for bodily injury occurring while using the app.
• For the sound signature to be noticed, a minimum volume of 56 dB is required.
• Please do not exceed 75 dB in public areas to avoid noise pollution.
• Do not use sound signatures that could distract other users on public roads.
• Please use the original sound signatures and horns on private grounds to avoid creating confusion for other users.
• The app user is entirely responsible for their behavior on public roads.
• Please follow all recommendations in the terms of use.

Legal Regulations

Legal regulations concerning electric vehicles (cars, vans, etc.). Electric cars are quieter than gasoline ones. This is very pleasing in terms of traffic noise but poses a safety issue: because electric cars are quieter, other road users such as pedestrians or cyclists may not hear them when they drive slowly. For this reason, "new types of hybrid and pure electric vehicles" must be equipped with a sound device. This requirement to produce sounds to signal the presence of the vehicle is based on EU regulation No. 540/2014. From July 1, 2021, this regulation will apply to all new hybrid and electric vehicles. To protect pedestrians and cyclists, a sound signature system will be used. This vehicle acoustic alert system produces a sound in the vehicle's minimum speed range, from start-up to about 20 or 30 km/h. Electric cars are silent up to 30 km/h. Precisely, this sound information is crucial for pedestrians in the city where the speed is reduced. Beyond 30 km/h, the noise of the air and tire friction on the asphalt is sufficient. Speed and Sound considers that bikes, scooters, and other types of soft mobility vehicles also represent a danger, among themselves but also and especially for pedestrians. This is why Speed and Sound provides its app to optimize everyone's safety.
